We combine our craft night with our holiday shop. The crafts are pretty basic, we usually order them from Oriental Trading but we also do "Letters to Santa" which all get answered via the mail, and pin the nose on rudolph sorts of games. We have a holiday scene so kids can get their photos done and usually have a big "Sweet Shoppe" where we have big jars of candy and the kids get ridiculous scoops for a quarter. It is always a hit and not in a gluttonous sort of way but in a more nostalgic way. Our art teacher usually does a tile fundraiser and we allow private businesses to come in and set up shoppe for a table fee. It's a big night.

We are planning a craft/reading night for the families of our school. I am interested in hearing of ideas from people who have done this before. We got rid of our Holiday shop, which was a shop set up for kids to buy gifts for friends and family members, so that we could maybe replace it with a craft night. I was wondering if anyone has had a holiday craft night or if it is better to do something like this after the holidays. The idea of the whole event was for the kids to make something for their family or friends' to give as gifts. Any help would be much appreciated!
