Our school is having an Election Movie Night...kids will vote between 2 movies (president will also be on ballot) on November 3rd (we are closed Nov 4) and the winning movie will be shown on that friday Nov 7th.
We are having our first committee meeting for this event tomorrow and I'd love some ideas of how to "promote" this through the month of October. I'd really like to get something fun going each week leading up to the big vote on November 3rd.
Hope that helps you and I'd love any ideas anyone has out there!
Why not try to also incorporate something that the kids could vote on that would affect their school. For example, if you don't have a mascot, have the kids vote, on election day, for a select group of new mascot choices... If you already have a mascot how about coming up with 2 or 3 different new mascot logos and have the kids vote on which one will be used for new apparel. Or maybe have them vote to name the mascot. Something like that...
This way they still learn about the election process and our presidential election, plus they get to see how their voting could directly lead to change...
Are any groups doing any special activity for the Presidential Election? I have been given permission to do a special event for the school (K-5) and I thought that I would print off ballot forms, make a ballot box and do other things. The teachers will be required to provide the background on each candidate, however, I have free reign as far as what I want to do. Any great ideas out there?
