We hold a big step breakfast for our K parents. They attend on the 1st day of school after they drop of their child in their classroom. We serve donuts and juice etc and the board intoduces themselves and we give a quick intro to what we will do this year. The principal also attends and talks to parents about starting K and what to expect etc.
Invitations are given out at enrollment to everyone who has a K child.
We just had our Kindergarten Round Up. It is put on by the office, but the principal introduced the PTC officers for next year and gave us some time to talk to the parents about our group.
The parents were introduced to staff and the kids were given a ride on the bus, then they got to meet their teacher for next year and see their new class room.
has anyone tried to introduce or start a k- orientation in their school???? How did you introduce the pro's vs. con's? What types of things did you do for the time? How long and was it done in time frames or all at once?
