What about Soups-- try Panera Bread-- Salad bar would work as well.
You could also have a grille cheese and soup bar-- that way you have something for the kids-- don't know if you can cook on propert or not-- but if you can, you could use plug in griddles. These are normally long so you could probably get 10-12 grille cheese sandwiches at a time-- We ran into the lent problem for years-- we always used coney Island-- we still served hot dogs, just added salads

How about Clam chowder and oyster crackers and you can offer a different kind of soup as well. Cold night soup is a big hit!

I don't know if this will help you or not. Our first auction is April 18th and we're having a spaghetti dinner first. We contacted some of our local businesses that couldn't donate to the auction (i.e. the funeral homes) and they gave $100 each. That covered the cost of our food and supplies for the most part. We also submitted a request to Walmart and they donated a gift card for us to use for food as well. We got most of our supplies from a local distributor....rigatoni, sauce and salad for 200 cost about $100. Our parents donated plates, napkins, drinks and silverware.
