We found a local magician that has a message that is fun and anti-bullying. He'll go table to table while the kids are getting seated and getting their food. Then he'll do a main performance. It really sounded good. We are getting food catered at $3 per person and the magician will cost about $400. If we get 200 present, we'll break even, charging $5 / per person. Our objective will be to break even on this event.
Any groups at the High School looking for a place to rehearse a program like a step team or a cheer squad, maybe a play group that would like to do a scene from their play? You can also have a "parent talent show" letting the kids watch their parents get up there and perform. Of course you can bring in one of the other programs that are school worth like a laser show or a one man art show--perhaps a more grown up magician that caters to older children. That 30 minute "show" would be a fun addition even if it does cost some money.
We are planning an after hours February event for middle school students. We want it to have a Valentines theme. We don’t think a lot of the students are ready for a Sweetheart Dinner and Dance. The dinner part will work. A previous movie event this year didn’t work as the students wanted to talk rather than watch the movie. Do you have ideas for the show portion of a dinner and show event? We are in Central KY.
