Glad to hear it was a huge success. I've got our school's first Reading Night scheduled for this Friday, and I'm a bit nervous about this one. What size is your school and what kind of attendance did you have? Any last second tips?

So I just wanted everyone to know that of you are looking for a great family night but on the learning side to consider a Reading Night. Last night we held our very first "Celebrate Reading" Night and it was a HUGE hit, we did ten different stations geared toward literacy, plus we had our custodian do story telling (the kids love him) and we did book bingo. We also had it so each child picked out a free new book, they also could win new books Playing Book Bingo and a Book Walk. Some kids left with 5 or six new books!
One station we had was a Shaving Cream station, geared toward all grades, it involves putting shaving cream on the table and the kids had to write words or the younger kids practice forming letters. It was so much fun and I am so glad we did it. Our events have always been geared more toward fun things but we are trying to put in an educational twist to a few, we will for sure do this again! As with all of our events this was totally free of charge and the whole night cost us around $1000.00 but seeing those kids with their new books was awesome!
