Don't forget the men. Car detailing theme, Nascar theme, tool kits filled with manly items, golfing theme or my personal favorite, King of the Hill, all sorts of tools put together in a wheelbarrow. We just had our auction and the ticket sellers told us that the men were spending way more than the women. Appeal to them and you can make more money.

We hold a silent auction and classroom basket auction along with a regular raffle during our spring carnival. The money raised from the classroom baskets goes directly back to that particular classroom, everything else is our PTA's. For our raffle we sell tickets $1 each, 12 for $10, or 25 for $20. We pre-sell the raffle tickets for one month prior to our carnival event and this seems to help with the sales. I send home flyers regarding the pre-sell of the raffle tickets as well as other things and fill the orders as they come in. The parents are responsible for filling out their own tickets and bringing them to the carnival. We rent a raffle cage for the tickets.

We had great success with our theme basket auction! We had each classroom do a basket and then opened it up to families and the community. We has 315 baskets valued between $75.00 and 125.00. I was so much fun! Here are some of our themes:

We found parents really liked to get gift cards- Many classes we made 2 or 4 baskets per class. We supplied each student with a letter (class specific and with additional ideas) and we also had a landry basket in each room for collection. We had 2 weeks to bring in items- teachers would call when their baskets were full!

I had a team of 8 people who came in and we made 103 in one day- we packed the baskets, cellophaned with a shrink wrap gun, and added bows!

We then continued to make additional baskets with items from school families and the community!
We were able to make over $24,000.00 on our theme basket event! Good Luck!
