Our Middle School just did this but it was the alumni Sabres (Buffalo hockey team) playing against our faculty in a basketball game. IT was alot of fun the mascot came out. Our teachers of course wore our Spirit wear shirts and they wore Sabres shirts. We sold pizza and drinks at the event. A flyer was sent home with the kids and you bought tickets ahead of time $5.00 per person. Ours sold out so there werent any available at the door. At half time the Sabres players signed autographs which took long but the kids loved it.
I think its a great idea even if you can't get a hockey team. I am thinking of doing it next year but baseball.

I also remember donkey basketball being played at the high school when I was a kid. It seemed larger than life when you were little, I wonder what it would be like as an adult. I went out to Google and typed in Donkey Basketball to see if it still existed, and there were several firms still in different regions of the US.
Of course there was also an entry in Wikepedia, stating of course that PETA is against donkey basketball. Always something.
Our group doesnt sponsor a basketball game but instead a volleyball match, which is tomorrow night! We always have a 'friendly' wager between the parent group president and principal(like pie in the face, etc.) What our teams try to do is wear all the same color shirt. So as far as shirts we don't do that, afterwards we serve pizza for everyone there.
Now there is a basketball game between our school and the Junior High, each team buys teeshirts, so they pay for their own. Either way the night is competitive yet fun, easy to pull off!

Could be an interesting idea. When I was in high school they use to do donkey basketball and teachers played against students(usually seniors)...yes on donkeys LOL!!
