You know how on Survivor they usually get to an episode where they ask questions about the cast members who have been voted off. Something like, "which cast member plays the tuba?". Well, why not try that for staff members. Maybe have questions that could be either the Principal, Asst. Principal, Nurse, Computer teacher, Art teacher, etc. (I would try to keep grade teachers out so that there is no unfair advantage). This would also help the families learn more about the staff.
Skyview - I absolutely love your idea! I would love to see what you ultimately did for the event. Definitely sounds like it's worth doing...

I was wondering what you did for Fear Factor and Lets make a deal. I am trying to think of some family fun night ideas and am drawing a blank. Would you share?
Thanks,
Oh, and I see that the Marines said that way before Clint Eastwood ever did.....
About the torches... Maybe the kids could each make their own as one of the competitions. You know, on the show they always say "Fire is Life" and they all have to make their own fire. The kids could each be given the supplies - deflated non-latex ( ) balloon, string, stick, whatever - and the first one to successfully "light their own torch" has immunity.

Glad you love the idea Skyview! No worries, there are non-latex balloons. If you need to, you can inflate them with regular old air and bind them to a stick. As long as they pop, it doesn't matter! It's Survivor after all. Improvise, Adapt, Overcome. Oh, no, wait, that's Clint Eastood.
Outwit, Outplay, Outlast!
I can't wait to hear how it all comes together for you. Thanks tons for always being willing to share your fun ideas with us!

You should also check to be sure that balloons are allowed in your school. Some schools, like mine, do not allow balloons because there are children/staff with latex allergies.
