We had our first Family Movie Night last night!! Huge success. We charged admission 1 can of non-perishable food and ended up with about 300lbs of food. We sold popcorn for .25 a bag and candy and juice boxes .50 cents a piece. We also did an intermission halfway thru and gave away door prizes. (2 liter of Pop, ActII pocorn boxes with goodies inside and Red Vines licorice) Everyone wanted to know when we were going to hold this event again. I love the idea of the glow necklace's tho'....cool...

I purchase all my glow necklaces on ebay. Even with the shipping being something like $15-$20, it is still is much cheaper than Oriental Trading.

OT sells them for $49.95 for 50 necklaces (plus shipping)

Ebay has them for $46 for 150 necklaces (includes shipping).

If that's too many...there's also an auction for $21 for 50 necklaces (includes shipping).

These are both "buy it now" prices. If you buy more than one set, you usually get a little discount on the shipping.

And fyi...I purchased glow light necklaces for my son's 10th birthday on ebay and had some left over.(he's almost 12 now). They still light up and glow.

And a side note - you will always have some of the necklaces that won't activate - but we had only a few out of each box of 50 that we ordered. This will happen no matter where you order from. And don't activate all the necklaces ahead of time in case you don't sell them all. You can save them for the next event.

Your suggestion is appreciated. Thanks to this board, I've realized that Oriental trading can be outdone on many things. Ebay beats them on this one for sure, and if there's better...:)

To keep from reinventing the wheel, can someone share the cheapest site to get the glow necklaces from? I know someone mentioned Ebay - is that the best?

Jenn, thank so much. Yes, ours is a "fun" night so I'm not worried about making money, just not losing it! LOL
We're definitely doing popcorn, nachos and candy bars, because those are all donated... I LOVE the glow necklaces idea too!
