"Around the World" Night

We are looking into an event like this too. I have done one with Girl Scouts. Each country occupied a table and included a token that was given to each student, facts about the country, and a food from that country. It was a timed event so each group had five minutes at each table. Students created displays with the country flags, facts, and personal experiences. We were thinking of asking our teachers to incorporate this idea into their lesson plans and possible having each grade create a display. Each student was given a ribbon to be worn around their neck like a necklace then attached their tokens to the ribbon with safety pins. Tokens ranged from paper flags to clay figures. China glued rice inside a acorn cap and a saftey pin to the back, to represent a bowl of rice their staple food. It was a great event. Some tables played videos of the country, performed a little play, or recited a poem. Hope some of these ideas help.

Our first FFN will be an international night. We have eight countries; I'm open to changing them or adding to them. We are looking for a food or foods and a craft/activity for each country.

I'd like to hear how others have done such a night. I'd also like to hear any ideas for Greece, Sweeden, England and France.

Thanks in advance! BTW, we host two totally free events each year. We're a rural school w 480+ students, K -6th. We have in excess of 350 at each event; our talent show brought in over 600 people! We always provide some sort of meal and then activities.
