We got the idea for the block party at the Nashville conference from another school. We wanted to give back to our great school and our parents and staff. We planned and planned. We would have information tables for PTO, Title I, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, 4-H and an eye doctor set up. Then, outside, we had a radio station providing music and prize giveaway anouncements, inflatable slide, face painting, fire trucks, ambulance, electric truck (he gave kids a ride in the bucket!), and a helicopter!! We also had free hot dogs, drinks and popcorn!! It was a great night! Everyone really enjoyed themselves! And you know, I think it did exactly what we wanted it too. People felt appreciated, they had a great time, and they will see that the PTO does great, fun things and hopefully, will be more willing to get involved this year! It was well worth the money we spent if we can accomplish that!
