Thank you!
Our seventh grade team of teachers have fun with this. Their favorite is making large batches of jello (no fav flavor) and hiding pennies, small toys -usually items taken away through the year- but nothing that would hurt to retrive as they- the kids- dig in with their TOES to get the prize! Too funny!
The biggest part is planning the large sheet trays of jello to be prepaired by the kitchen. Last year 3 ladies had kids in 7th grade so they had too much fun knowing what the jello was for!
Forgot one - a game where kids attempted to throw rings over the horn of a bull. We fashioned bull heads out of large pieces of cardboard and attached to saw horses. Kids won candy treats for "roping the bull".
The Wild West Rodeo will be great. I did a Welcome Back Round Up in the fall but it was inside. You've probably thought of all the obvious things, like having a real saddle on a bale of hay that the kids can sit on, story around the campfire, chuckwagon viddles. At my event I had a line dance group of senior citizens come and teach line dancing. They were a hoot and had a great time themselves and of course everyone had fun learning a line dance. The music helped set the tone as well. We also had one station were kids had to match the English cowboy word with Spanish or French. The matching words when put together created a cowboy hat or boots. I had a local expert on our town's history do a station that I called "Little Town on the Prairie". She dressed the part and showed slides and gave a presentation. Good luck with your event!

if you still have your Field Day stations list handy, please email it to me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. We have a Wild West Rodeo theme for our elementary (Pre-K thru 5th) Field Day and we are out of ideas with only 10 stations.
Our Field Day has 20 stations for the kids to go through. I have a list if you are looking for games or ideas. I know our kids love the Karaoke Station and the Dunk Tank.
