Our Elem PTA also hosts Bingo for books. I ordered a variety of books form Scholastic thru one of our teacher volunteer's regular class book orders so she could receive points. We had no tears for non winners, but this year I did buy some inexpensive treats(small containers play dough, candy, pencils) so no child was empty handed. We held during the school book fair and even offered prizes of between $2-$5 coupon towards purchase at book fair. Our parents really have a good time too!

Where do you get the 'bruised' books? I checked out the scholastic website but couldn't find anything...thanks!

Thanks a lot for those of you who posted here about this BINGO business! It's my first one and our school's first one as well! Kindda shooting in the dark but you gave me hope!
Our middle school PTA is putting this non-fundraiser in the hope that it does a COMMUNITY feeling raiser! Our teens don't want to have us around but I have big hope that such an event will allow everyone a comfortable space within the same room
I'm planning on using the card fee to cover prizes and putting on the event.
We've offered to our cheerleading squad to hold the concession food snacks for their own profit since they need fundraisers as well.

We had bingo tonight at the school for our Family Fun and Games night. In 30 minutes, we played about 4-5 times. We did regular bingo, 4-corners, and a "cross" bingo. We gave little $5 prizes. We ordered our bingo set (plus 150 "shutter" cards) off of eBay. The kids loved it.
