We had our Holiday Craft Workshop today with the family portrait station. We had only approx. 85 kids(in a school of 700+) but they made more than 450 crafts! 15 families also took the opportunity to have their pictures taken. Feedback was very positive. This was our first "make and take" event.
Could you please send me any forms you have on this? I LOVE the idea of a family picture. How many people signed up? Did you have it during the day just one day for the family pictures?

THANK YOU!
We are also trying the Holiday Craft Workshop for the first time this year. I used the forms from the PTO Resource sharing site www.orgsites.com/ma/ptoinfo/index.html
to start. We picked some items from Oriental Trading and some from the Family Fun Website, plus the local pottery shop will bring ornmanets that the kids can paint. We are also offering a professional photographer to take family portraits(for a $10 donation to the PTA, the family gets a 8X10 and we keep $8 out of the $10) plus hot cocoa and gift wrapping.
A few questions...How many kids are you expecting? Is this a parent/child activity, or are you planning on letting the kids work on their own? How long is the event? Is it a holiday theme or general crafts? Have you considered the Family Arts & Crafts Night kit offered here?
We need craft ideas for our first make and take craft shop. We decided to make the crafts this year instead of bringing in those inexpensive items from a company.
If you have hosted this type of event at your school, could you offer some ideas for crafts, registration, set-up and/or how you actually ran the event at your school. Thanks in advance -- any ideas are greatly appreciated (feel free to e-mail me at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) MJ
