Since the teachers are there mainly for the purpose of teaching the kids, how about trophies for: teacher who had best perfect attendance of students, students scored highest averages for state tests. Best "new teacher", the teacher has been there the longest. Teacher who had most parents show up for school events. Most stylish teacher, your idea for the teachers is great. Maybe we will do this in the future. Good Luck, let us know how it turns out.
Not sure if you have money to spend or not on this event - but did you know that trophy shops have miniature "oscar" trophies that you can order? They're about 6" tall and you can get them engraved with the actual award on it (that would cost more) - or just buy the trophy without engraving and print a label with the award and stick on the base of the "oscar". We did this for a work thing many years ago. We decorated the auditorium with gold and black balloons - black and gold cut out stars on the walls - even had a red "carpet" (roll of red paper down the center aisle). We had an employee dress up in a really fancy dress and she presented the trophies (just like the academy awards).
If you didn't have the budget to buy "real" trophies - you could cut out the shape of "oscar" out of gold tag board and create a version of it to giveaway.
Best attendance, most volunteer time to after school activities, most PTO meetings attended . Longest teaching, shortest teaching, most travelled in the year, came the furthest -- hope those help.

Our principal wants to have an awards program for our teachers. She wants it kind of like the Oscars or Emmy's. Here is the catch - She wants to think of different names for each award such as - Most Outstanding Teacher - Most Dependable and so on. Those are the only 2 I can think of and we have 25 homeroom teachers. Can anyone get their creative juices flowing?
