At the end of the school year we have a basket auction. Every class is given a theme; ie, books, games, picnic, BBQ, pets, boys, girls, garden, outdoor play, art, certain sports teams..etc. The families all donate one item to their child's class basket. We even had local businesses donate baskets. The PTO puts up the funds to buys baskets and wrapping, but all else is profit. We set it up in the gym, because we have a BBQ that same night. It's not a huge money maker, but most of our baskets go for over $100 each. Maybe if you did a fundraiser spaghetti feed and auction night...or something like that. It just depends on how much you want to make. I'm sure you can tweak it anyway you want to make it work for you.
