Parents Night Out

I was thinking about a parent appreciation night. I was thinking about having the kids (older ones) give their parents an arm massage at the table. I was thinking on the lines of pampering and relaxing. Any ideas on what I could do?

If it was me, I'd start at the classroom or grade level, or do a few levels at a time. Like K & 1st grade. Hire a few older kids and some grandmas to watch the kids at school (in the gym?) for a few hours and let the parents go out to a restaurant together to socialize and get to know each other better. If your school has afterschool care, those people might even be good sitters to start with, since they may know the kids and could probably come up with activities to keep them busy for a few hours.

Maybe find a few parents to work with and get the ball rolling that way. Talk to the principal and see what she thinks and set a date on the calendar. I think if you had a few parents to start off with it will go more smoothly.

Good Luck

I would like to organize a Parents Night Out at my son’s school. When he was a pre-schooler, they did it there and it was soooo good for us parents, who had very little time to spend together without the kids. I just have no idea where to start in a big school with 6 different grade levels (K-5). Any ideas?
