I just held a Family Reading Night at our April meeting I thought it went well. I used some ideas I have read on this discussion forum. We had a book swap, each student brought at least one slightly used book as admission to swap with another.(the leftover books I left in the teachers lounge to see if they wanted any for their classroom library) The students LOVED that. I was going to have a guest reader but she was unable to come so they were stuck listening to me-I don't know how great that was! Then we played Book Bingo- which it took me awhile to make the bingo cards, I used words from 3 books I choose to read to the students and I used beans for markers for the cards. The kids loved winning and getting prizes.
We had cookies and milk as refreshments to got with the theme book "If You Give A Mouse A Cookie"
