Last week our PTO hosted a "Family Line Dance night". It was great fun and a big success.
No charge to participate, just fun. We limited the amount of people to 100 (mostly for fire hazard reasons).
In February our school held a dance performance for the parents. The 2nd grade students did 3 or 4 line dances and a lot of the parents were dancing in the stands watching their kids.
I asked the PE and Music teacher to lead/teach the parents and family members the dances the kids learned. They enlisted the help of some of their students to come and help 'teach' the parents.
It lasted about an 1 hour and approximately 40 people showed up to dance. We did the Macarena, boot scoot 'n boogie, achey breaky heart and one called the cha cha slide.
The night was a great success and we gained new appreication for what teachers have to go through to 'teach' our children in class.
We vowed to do it again in late spring. What a workout!
