Organizing Family Fun Nights

Hi Jackie and welcome.

There are sooo many posts on this website that will give you hundreds of ideas and tips. Just block some time and start looking.

Our school PTA does a movie night and a swim/skate night at a local rec center. Admission is free, but for the movie night, we ask for donations of non-perishable food items for our local food pantry. For the swim/skate, we'll ask for new or gently used books, which will be distributed during Nat. Reading Month.

If and when we get more involvement, I would love to see a science night, talent show, and others.
We did a dance last year, not sure if we are this year tho. We had a couple of complaints about some of the songs, so it's yet to be decided.

If you don't have a good volunteer base yet, make sure you start with something small, though. No matter how much fun something sounds, if you don't have enough people to make it work, it will stain what you're trying to do.

Have fun looking and best of luck to you.

Hi All,

Our school is making a concerted effort to involve more families into it's community through organizing Family Fun Nights. WE've not had any experience at this before and because we are a Canadian school, we cannot order the PTOtoday kits.

We are looking for any information/tips/hints...etc... to help make these nights a success.

Jackie Ross
Regency Acres Parent Council, Vice Chair.
