Family night flop?

I can just sympathize with these parents who had children running all around while the movie was playing. I'd love to hear from other schools and how they handled this problem. Do they request that the parent's stay? Do the teachers come? What works?

Yeah, if movie-watching isn't for your kids, then i bet our new Fun&Games Night (with Family Fun magazine) will be right up your alley. This one's all about getting active with relay races (with Famil Fun-esque twists), team juggling, shoe races -- all kinds of fun, indoor, active games for the whole family.

It's a great night. Hope you can book it for the fall.

Since the children attending seems to have some energy they need to release and you've got them to do something different why not try a Family Fitness Fun Night? I saw this link on www.educationworld.com, I did not check it out because I was looking for something else, I think it would probably have some valuable information.

Coprez - Have you done one? The feedback we're getting from groups on this particular night is very, very good. Big thing to remember is that the benefit is in getting families together, having fun at school (first steps towards even greater involvement). Mabletonprez got it juts right.

Family movie night would be hard to do and keep everyone under control.

We showed a movie during the day as a special treat to the kids (150 kids). We showed Santa Claus 2 right before Christmas break. Of course, the teachers were there, so the kids didn't make a peep, but they loved it. It was a special treat for them to miss class. We gave each child a ticket upon entering and then raffled off the movie at the end. We're hoping to maybe do 2 more of these next year.

We had our first movie night this year and we did have alot of running around also. I think potentially, I would do a movie for the younger kids and then a different night for the older kids.

We showed NEMO, which is great for all ages, but the olders kids started screwing around. Some of them did not have parents there, because they are part of the afterschool program and their parents just let them stay.
