I've seen a art show work really well at our elementary school. The art teacher was instrumental on making it work. She had lots of homemade display boards taped together that fold up. She has the student's name beside or under the art and the sale price or that the art was not for sale.
She also has worked with our small town art gallery to use city facility to run a multi-school art show. Our local artists help with this.
Has anyone seen an art show that worked well at a middle or high school?
We held our first one last year. We went with a spring theme and worked with the art teacher, who had each student make a piece for the show. Each grade level did a different project. The pieces were then hung outside their teacher's classroom.
We invited the art teacher for a display of his work in his room and also a teacher who has photography studio in her spare time to display photos in his room also. The high school art teacher displayed his work (wife is a teacher at our school) and his high school art students and high school art club members submitted a piece also. (Unbelieveable!) The high school art club helped run our craft tables . Our elementary art club designed the posters for around school and also the ones that were hung in area businesses. The elementary art teacher designed the flyers that we sent to Domino's and they put on their pizza boxes for a week before our event.
We also had a local artist come and painted a huge painting in the cafeteria. We also had a local clogging group come clog (audience participated too!) Both of these were during dinner.
On top of all of this we also had a soup supper in the evening.
We decided not to have judging or ribbons. This was more of come enjoy a night of Art rather than who's was better.
Thanks I would love your details as someone just suggested this at our school. Thanks so much for sharing! This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

If anyone is interested in having an art show let me know and I'll share my details.
