our school usually has "themed" field days, and we try to coordinate our relays to this. We've had afootball toss{2 teams line up at marked lines and throw football for distance and points, team with the most points wins. We've tried a sponge relay[2 lines with water filled buckets and large sponges, 2 empty buckets, team with the most water in the empty bucket wins.try a balloon relay,[ 2 teams, each person hops with balloon between legs to cone ,sits on ballon to pop and then picks up popped ballon and puts in bucket],or try balloon popping dare[dare written on paper inside balloon, cild races to cone ,pops balloon and has to do dare inside[or make their teacher do. you can also try a dress up relay[beach clothing, patriotic, etc.} hope these suggestions help. You can also search the web under "field day games" for more ideas

At our Relay Day last year, they had several different Relays that were really fun. We had tug of war that the kids competed against each other and then the parents competed with the kids and against each other. They also had another Relay where two teams had a parent or a teacher each sitting in a lawn chair. About 20 feet away each team was lined up. They had different summer items like flippers, towels, sunshades, floaties, umbrellas, etc. and the kids took turns running one item down and running back. The team who got all of the "stuff" to the adult first won. They also did a relay where they rolled a tire down to the opposite end, went around a cone and then had to pick it up and put it around them and run back. They also even had a "chalking" station where the kids just chalked all over the sidewalks and parking lot (that was roped off) They really enjoyed this too.

Another great place for relay games or any game is Zoom.
