Family Fun Night

wanting to do a family feud night, Having my dad help build a stand with the buzzers for the face off. I have been looking everywhere for some kind of power point program I can edit with our questions and answers. posted questions on facebook for the "asking 100 people" so far that is going well. Thinking of making it where you pay at the door $2 a person under the age of 4 is free. each person gets a ticket and we draw ticket numbers to make up the "families" so you get to meet new people. Asking to invite friends, family, neighbors, co workers the more the better. We would give each paid ticket a free water and bag of popcorn with the option to purchase boxes of candy. I love the game family feud! The down side is I won't be able to play since I'm the one doing all the planning. :( But if it's a HIT it will all be worth it. I can't wait!
Any suggestions on how to do the questions? thought about a back drop for each round this the answers covered. Have 2 helpers that will remove the cover to show the answer when it's given. But need to make sure it's readable and big enough for all so see. Plus hoping to do 4 rounds or families so that is a lot of back drops to make.

Boy, that is cold. You all need to do a roadtrip down here to the tropics and warm up!

Charging admission would certainly take care of asking for donations for the baskets and I don't feel that would be too much to ask. Or purchase items where you know you will recoup the cost: a $50 Build a Bear basket, a DVD player, or even a CD player with a $25 gift certificate for a local music store.

Too cold to go shopping??? Where do you live?

In the New York area (that Eastern America) it's been -40degrees and colder! That my friend is just to cold to do ANYTHING! (My daughter's 13th birthday is Thursday and she was born in Chicago on a -40 degrees -60 windchill! BBBRRRR!!!!!!

I like what Co PRez suggested! If the families can get to the school, $2 a person is cheap eating! Cheaper than pizza! ;)

Stay warm out there!!!!!

We tell our families that the family fun night is a thank you and not a fundraiser, although we ask for a small donation to help offset some of the costs involved. We usually as $2 child, $1 for parents. It usually helps to pay for some of the entertainment, etc. With 800+ students, you should do really well.

Too cold to go shopping??? Where do you live? As to the question, we usually have a note in our request for basket items that includes donating money if they would rather. There are many times I would rather write a check than go out to the store!

I don't think it would be tacky if you worded it right. I think I would rather give money right now. It's too cold to go shopping! I think if you explain your reasonings that would help too. Maybe some parents would know where you could get some of those items donated too.
