Can PTO's in the same district have their own tax id #? Currently 5 schools, each with their own PTO/board, their own fundraising efforts and their own bank accounts. The only thing we do together is file taxes and that has been a disaster. My school is always prompt in getting the information needed for tax purposes, however the other schools have not. As a result we have not been able to file taxes and recently lost our tax-exempt status. It's seems unfair we should bear the consequence of the other PTO's lack of compliance. Can we vote to disband the corporate charter that unites us as one entity and terminate the single entity then recharter each PTO separately so that each school has their own tax id?
