no contact from pto

Same problem here.. been contacting them for months trying to see what area I could help in, and nada! I agree with Daddio044 - they have already started taking nominations for the new board, and I was encouraged to run by some of the teachers I've been in contact with. I know it will be tough if I am elected, but if we want change we need to make it happen!

We are having the same problem with our PTO. Luckily elections are held annually, so change will be sooner than later with our organization. I would recommend the same for your organization - might be a good time for you or your friends to run for an elected position.

I talked to the Principal this morning and found out that the PTO never contacts her even. She is placing a call to the PTO president to talk to her personally and let her know that myself and another are wanting to do more with our PTO.

I would suggest calling the group secretary (that you spoke to before) and ask her who to contact, so you can volunteer your time.

I have a bunch of ?s:
Do they have a website or newsletter? Maybe you could get involved by volunteering to help out in that area. We have a free email/newsletter tool that you could use.

Do they have any events coming up? Can't imagine that they wouldn't want help at events and programs.

Have you tried to go into the school office? Usually the office people are in the know about everything and could point you in the right direction.

If all else fails, contact the principal and express your interest in getting involved. Think you need to take these steps and understand how the group operates before you jump into take over mode. You are going to be with these people for many years to come I would imagine.

Would love to hear how this turns out!

I recently moved to a different state, and with it has come a different school for my kids. The PTO I left was a very active group, having meetings every month and there was always something going on. Everything was discussed and voted on.
Once I moved, I signed up for the PTO here and once my dues were payed I have never heard anything from them. There seems to be no way to contact them. The Secretary told me that they only have three general meetings a year. My friend and I want to have more involvement with our PTO and would like to see serious change. Is there a proper way to do this? What if it means removing the current board? Any thoughts?
I realize that not everyone does things the same and I can't just expect everything to adjust to suit me, but there really seems to be a problem here and I want to my kids to get the best out of the school system they are in.
