Your idea of the display case is wonderful. What a way to instill pride and self confidence in the children and get more parents involved.
In our display case, we usually do whatever that month or few weeks is about.
Veterans Day- we send a note with the children stating that we are doing a display case and if anyone has anything to display, please bring it in. We have received items from the civil war up to the current one. Pictures of soldiers units, medals, uniforms,...
We do a spirit wear display when we are selling that.
Johnny Appleseed, Fireman Week= we ask the local firemen for an extra outfit, complete with boots, axe, whatever they can send and display that
We have a large display case outside the school office. Last year we decided to let the students display their 'collections'. The student brings in their collection (hot wheels, baseballs, barbie etc). Their collection stays in the case for two weeks with a little sign indicating who the collection belongs to. We have a form that has to be completed by a parent indicating what kind of collection, how many etc. The parent must bring the collection in and pick it up at the end of the two weeks. This ended up being a VERY popular project. We had a waiting list all year. School has been in session for two days now and I've already had students asking if they could bring in a collection.
This is the first year that I am a board member. I am the publicity coordinator and I am in charge of the display showcase in the lobby of the school. I am looking for a place online that shows pictures of showcases so I can get some good ideas for each month, since I have never done this before. Are there any websites or anything that have something like that???
