Not sure about other schools, but our volunteer coordinator's budget is based on the number of volunteer hours the school gets the previous calender year. As far as getting people to record their hours; when they volunteer in school they can't even leave the office without signing into the computer system so to print out a name tag. As for outside of school and after school hours, I have all my volunteers sign in on a sheet and sign out. I've never had a problem keeping up with my volunteer hours this way.

When we have someone go to local businesses for donations for various projects we use some of the donations as incentives to get people to record their time. At the end of each month we do a raffle for an item-sometimes its a gift card to a restaurant sometimes a manicure, etc. and you only get entered if you enter your time. We announce the winners on our website and in our newsletter. Do we get 100 percent of people to participate> No but we def get more than before. Hope that helps ...
Anyone have a suggestion for inspiring parents to enter their volunteer time on the Volunteer Builder system? We are fine with finding volunteers....but most have no interest in recording their volunteer time on the system.
