Our school sends out a note for both--- you will receive a note that's "You have been chosen to be a room parent."
Then it goes on to say there's a meeting to go over all details about 1 week later....
We also send a note saying, I'm sorry this position has been filled, but there are plenty of other areas where you can help out and volunteer in the classroom and with PTO-- please contact the PTO if you would like to know more.... this has always worked fine for us--- in years past we were able to say, but please come to the parties or but you are welcome to come to the class parties---- now you can only come if your a room parent--- so it's a bit more of a sticky situation now....
I have a question on how people handle room parent selection communication.
If you have reached your maximum number for room parents, how are you informing those who were not selected? What is your timing of notifying them they were not selected and informing those who were? How are you conveying you were not selected for room parent but direct them to other occasions to volunteer? Have you ever made a commitment that they are on the top of the list the next year should the case arise? I assume this occurs as exception and I think its a potential for a slippery slope but I wanted to still ask.
In the case of those selected how are you notifying them of their selection? Even if you have an orientation after the fact how do you communicate the selection and the orientation?
If you have any particular wording that you would be willing share it would be greatly appreciated.
