Take the opportunity! Tap the previous president/chair for their thoughts, then combine with new ideas. I would guess that a lot of people who end up on a board start by thinking they have no idea what to do! The most important piece you bring to the group is your heart has to be in it. Give it a shot, you have nothing to lose and your group has everything to gain by your willingness to try!

It's a big commitment. Don't let it scare you. Just take one thing at a time. Talk to the principal about their vision for the future of your PTO, and think about how next year your going to have more volunteers. Go to everything with parents, set up a table with lots of forms and pencils and sign people up. Hint, they'll be more willing to make commitments if they have lots of options to choose from. They'll be more willing if they are personally asked.

hi i am in need of help. i have been asked to run at our school because not many people at the school want to be involved. i am happy to run just have no idea on what i would be doing. i think i am gonna jump right into pres. so if anyone is willing to let me know what i am getting myself into it would be wonderful. thanks
