Yes, I have sent this 2hour power out and it has check boxes for many different types of volunteering, which we focused on PTO fundraisers and family events while turning over the classroom and office volunteers to school for their records. We have poor parental involvement and volunteers as do most PTO's it seems. The 2hour power is very similur to our school volunteer form sent out at beginning of school year. We sent 2hour out in March for our end of year big event and had a good return. Our school policy is anyone in contact with our children must have school background check same as school does for their volunteers. Our Principal insists on it as should be. I'm a fan of 2hour power. This is something your Principal needs to be aware of and the school will background check those who volunteer.
Our PTO uses a very similiar parent pledge program and they do work!
We use it for everything volunteer related. We talked with the principals at the 2 schools we serve and got their approval to market this program as THE volunteer program. Often times parents want to volunteer but do not join the parent group. These pledge programs are for them too, despite that the PTO(A) is running it.
If you go to the file exchange on this board, you will find all my documents for our program. It's under "other volunteers & involvement" and then to anything with "three for me" in the title.
We have increased our volunteer hours to 500+ per month(not counting my 35 per week) for both schools. This has been consistent for the past three years, up from somewhere around 100 a month.
I feel VERY positive about any formal parent volunteer pledge program!
