Ok - make the switch to the PTO. You'll save $$ in the long run and could run a program similar to this that would benefit more local kids instead of just buying into a National program.
Ok... now I understand what this is-- We are having a young Author program this year-- we are doing it in the month of April right after March reading month--
All the kids write their own book and publish it.
We will also be giving out awards for each grade level and certificates.
We are using white board books from barebooks.com
I'm also looking into other programs that we can promote in the school to further help the kids education and learning.
Well, this is what I was able to find regarding the "Reflections" program:
"The program offers students the opportunity to create works of art for fun and recognition. Students in preschool through grade 12 are encouraged to create and submit works of art in four areas: literature, musical composition, photography, and the visual arts (which includes art forms such as drawing, painting, print making, and collage)."
kidd5, you asked what programs are available that is similar to reflections. I would say that a PTO could do whatever they want, with administrative approval. For example, if you wanted to fund a school play, great. Want to fund a recital, great. Want to hold an art or literature contest, great.
Overall, you can take the thousands of dollars that would go out for the PTA dues and apply it in any way that your group wants. If that is in art relate programs, then I think that that would be amazing. Just think about all of the directions that you can go with this!!!
We are considering switching to a PTO however I was wondering what programs are available that is similar to Reflections offered by PTA. Our teachers have always incorporated the Reflections project into the curriculum and we would like to offer an alternative if we make the switch. Any suggestions?
