I am researching information on School Bus Drivers across the country.
I believe it to be an extremely important issue that rarely makes the agendas of most PTA/PTO meetings.
some of you are asking questions on how to build groups, some are seeking participation.
If there is any focus on the safety of students before they reach the classroom and after they leave, I am interested in hearing it.
In my studies it is appalling to me how little attention is paid to the professionalism of the school bus driver. Equally is the general public truly aware of the certifications and requirements they must follow? Typically not. The private companies and school districts across the country that I have come in contact with, believe parents consider Bus Drivers as "babysitters" and that is they way they like for it to be. Simply because there is less demand for quality workforces and structured operations.
This to me is hidious and unacceptable.
I believe all parents would be interested in operators that seriously focus on safety as opposed to other things.
First hand knowledge your feedback would provide will be most helpful.
Thank you in advance
