We had a delayed Open House last night due a bomb threat 2 weeks ago. As part of our Parent Group Presentation, we decided to make it more fun. Last year, we implemented the skit we found here, with one person saying, "I'm too busy," one saying, "It's not for me," etc. People LOVED it! This year, we got the kids involved. We asked them, with the mic, "Why or what does your parent do for the PFO?" They then said their name, grade and what teacher they had and their response. Responses ranged from, "I like when my mom brings in cupcakes and juice for my class," to "I liked when my mom was president of the PFO because she was in charge of the whole school like the principal, " to "I like seeing my dad put up papers in the hall when I walk to music," to "My mom is Co-Vice President and I love her." It was the cutest thing. But, the main point to get across to our parents was that getting involved at school is for your kids and connects you to the school. Be sure to get a range of age of kids and since we're a very diverse, urban school, a diverse group. We got a very positive response from parents and teachers.
