Make it funny to get people thinking or talking about it. Don't give up. You're looking for a big commitment. Ad campaigns take multiple "impressions" to be successful.
Review your bylaws. If a president is needed in order to keep your PTO in existenace, then simply state that if no one steps up, the PTO will be disbanded and all funds distributed to the school. I'm sure someone will step up by the deadline date.
No one seems to want to be President and actually its coordinating the coordinators of your events. If you are good at Project Management and keeping track of details, planning ahead and great at making sure communications are released, you can handle being President.
Thank you for your suggestion. I've considered "running" for President, but I don't know if I'm up for the challenge ~ as it is I'm pretty tapped out! I do like the co-chair idea, so that may be an option. I'll discuss with the rest of the board! Thanks, again!!!
As the current secretary, are you able to take the president position? We were in a dilemna at the end of last year when our volunteer coordinator resigned. No one wanted to take on this big job so we decided to create co-coordinators. The two women get along great and are doing a fantastic job without being overwhelmed. Neither had previous board experience. Instead of a prez and VP, could your PTO have co-presidents?
I am currently the Secretary for our elementary school's PTO. We ended our year last year with no Vice President, but 3 other board members. Over the summer, our President had to relocate leaving us with no President or VP. We conducted our first meeting in September and, according to Robert's Rules, elected a Chairman Pro Tem to lead our meetings until such time that we have a Pres/VP. The challenge is this ~ we have no one coming forward to want to fill either of these positions. We have had challenges in our organization in prior years, so I think we still have some carryover with that. While we have had great turnout for volunteers for our various committees, we still need at least one of these key positions filled to function. Any recruiting suggestions? Thank you!!
