What don't you have questions that the student asks of the grandparent/friend (kind of like an interview). then they can stand up and tell their special & interesting facts about them. Such as--most memorable moment in their life, how many children, grandchildren, great grand children they have, what they like best about school, favorite dessert.....
This is my first year as PTO President and I want to double check with all of you if I need to do more. We usually hold our Grandfriend's Day in late September. It's for First grade only, I might incorporate the other grades later. It only last an hour and last year they made a picture frame, had a polaroid picture taken, read a story, and had cookies and tea. This year I can't seem to find the Polaroid camera, I thought it belonged to the school. Anyhow, I found the perfect book -- "Something to Remember Me", figured we'd read then do a grandparent word search together, cookies and tea. Ahead of time I'll do books where the kids fill in the blanks about a grandfather/grandmother/special friend. Also, hanging on the walls will be the kids answers to what a grandparent is. I saw these on another site and some we're pretty cute. I also have certificates for the kids to pass out.
Is this enough? What else can I do? Thanks for any input.
