I checked with the district and the licensing company and as long as it's shown on school property, even after school hours, we are covered under the agreement. Glad you were able to receive your license so fast. Have a great time.

I called Monday and got our license yesterday...wow fast huh! I would think about the $75.00 fee, if you got fine for not having one how much would that cost your group? There was a district a while back that had that happen. The 75.00 is worth it!

Be careful though. The school district purchasing a license covers movies shown in school I believe and not those shown after school hours for the purposes of entertainment. They are also not purchased under the PTOs name which means they may not apply to your showings....d

check with your district. They might already purchase a license for the year.
Ours does.... you can also find out of they do by calling the licensing company yourself and and they can look up your district and tell you whether or not they have purchased one.
Good luck, this is a fun event-- I've ran a movie night the last 3 years and it's a great event!

Hi ddg -

The studios will refer you to Movie Licensing USA. We've spoken to both.

Good luck,

I just found this forum today, although I have been recieving PTO today all along. I am so glad to have found it. I am in my second year as President of the Thomas Page Elementary School in Cotati, California.

I have a question about licensing for a movie night. Has anyone ever gone straight to the studio for such an event? I looked at Movie Licensing USA at www.movlic.com , which charges $75 for one event. I was wondering if I could get it any cheaper somplace else.

I appreciate any input you might have
