2 Hour Power

Hi Debbie -

Glad you like the efforts.

Actually, that program is no longer PTA-affiliated at all and hasn't been for almost a year. The national PTA and three4me had a falling out in 2005.

Honestly, we talked to those guys at three4me a lot before developing our own solution. I've been talking about "the fear of the black hole" (and a pledge program as a solution) for a long time in my keynotes and columns, and when three4me popped up, we were very supportive. Kind of like we have been with another, even older pledge program at Project Appleseed (a cover story in our first year of the magazine). The three4me crew spoke at all of our 2005 conferences, for example.

So like I said, we had really open and detailed business discussions with those guys back in late 05 and early 06. Like us, they are a business, too. When all was said and done, we both decied to go forward separately.

I think a pledge program is a great involvement tool. And I think you'll like how our 2 Hour Power program continues to develop with our talented designers and writers and involvement experts working on it for years to come. Hope so.

While I applaud your efforts, I don't know why you didn't just jump on promoting the Three for Me program. The wheel was already invented with that program. Could it be because it was formed by two PTA members and is now a PTA sponsored program?

Hi Tim, I actually was looking at this over the weekend and sent a email to my principal telling him I wanted to do this. I got a reply back thanking me, I think he knows I am going to do it even if he doesn't want to! This is his second year and he truly has learned alot about parent involvement and so he knows not to say no! Ha ha ha! It looks like a great thing, we had done something similiar a few years back that I had develop on my own but i like that this is all ready to go! I will let you know how it works!

Still in development to some degree (many of the forms being tweaked and upgraded this week), but thought you might like to check out our new "2 Hour Power" program/tool.

It's a neat way to grow involvement. Never heard of "Fear of the Black Hole"? Check it out.

Hope it helps you get more parents involved than ever before.
