My words of advice and I ended up being officer the same way just went to pres.
Take a deep breath and approach each problem a little at a time or you'll get overwhelmed.
For the meetings I type up the agenda for everyone and then I make a copy for me that has lots of room for all my notes that I'm going to say. Including motions, welcome, introductions, whatever just so I dont forget. I also bring a pen with me and take scrap paper in case someone brings something up that I need to address or so I dont forget what the question was. LOL
I would ask the chaiperson to assign jobs to each of the other people who asked to help that way she won't get too overwhelmed. You might have to let the lady know of the advantages to her. If that doesn't work and she wants to do it all then maybe they could help with one of your other activities.
Good Luck

it was one of those...sure id like to be an officer..to BOOM your president. i was like..whoa.
anyways... we have low involvement in our school, generally get teh same 15 parents at every meeting, with a troublemaker or 2 that skips meetings, just to bring up more trouble the next time.
im also in charge of the festival we will be having... unfortuntely my co-chairperson is one that wants to do everything herself. when i said that the brochure i sent out to the parents had 10 parents wanting to help plan..she said...well we dont need them. i said yes we do. looks like ill be calling a meeting to get smaller committees made so that more than just her and i are in charge.
im nervous about the first meeting...just remembering the motion stuff, and order and all that. i have been typing stuff up as it does come up, and i do have wonderful officers..yet it all lays on me that meeting. so any help would be wonderful
