We also gave our Teachers a Welcome Back gift when school started. Yes we do focus on the students and school needs but who will still be there at the schools when our kids have left, THE TEACHERS... The Teachers need to know they are appreciated for all their hard work teaching the children.

Our group is basically new. We have been around for 2 years previous to this year but our previous principal did not want visitors/parents on the campus. Our new principal is great! She realizes that we can be very valuable to her. How :confused: ever many of the teachers still are of the opinion that we should drop our kids off at 8 and come back to get them at 3. :confused:
I have spent the last 2 weeks busting my tail to motivate our students to sell - sell - sell. I have been at the school before and after every day for 2 weeks. We are trying to sell $20,000 in product. Last year, our first year to try the fundraiser we use, we were able to sell $14,000.
Is there anything we can do to get the teachers to help motivate the kids. The teachers just look at me as if I am in their way. We do give our teachers several treats during the year. They got about a $20 - $25 at the beginning of the year. They get lunch next week on parent/teacher conference day. They will get a Christmas gift of about $15 and then another $25 during teacher appreciation week. As you can tell a lot of the $10,000 we raised last year went directly to our staff of 40.
Yes, I also believe we are partly resposible for creating a comfortable environment not only for the students but for the teachers and all staff. I am also taking things a step further this year as president I am trying to foster more community involvement and trying to make sure our school is inviting to all. I will be going out one morning to greet our bus drivers as they pull in with students, and they will receive fresh baked muffins as a thank you.
The bottom line is - we are there to improve the education of our kids.
We do this many different ways- raising money to fund projects, pay for equipment, etc.
The kids are our main focus.
But... we can't do this without the cooperation of our parents & teachers. By getting parents involved, it not only helps our efforts, but as many studies have shown, it helps the kids. As far as the teachers go, we all know they are already underpaid. We ask them to do a lot of extra stuff-handing out papers, collecting money, volunteering at events & more. Happy teachers make a happy school. If you make your teachers feel angry or unappreciated, you might as well forget it. (imho) If we create a close knit community, the teachers, parents and most importantly the kids feel more comfortable & everyone can do what they are there to do (& do it well).
