This is my second year as our PTO president. You can really count on this message board for any and all help or ideas that you need. A lot of the things we did last year have been ideas from here. WHAT A GREAT GROUP OF PEOPLE!!! We as a PTO are now down to 2 fundraisers a year, cookie dough in the fall and carnival in the spring. And are working our way up to doing more family involved activities in our district. We wanted the community and our families to know that we are here for the schools and the kids and we are seeing alot more involvement. Hang in there and refer back to these boards and ideas with be there for you. More than you will probably ever get a chance to use. Good Luck! You'll do great!
momof2kkids - there are tons of really great volunteer manuals on the internet. Go to Google and type "volunteer manuals" in the search. I love them because there's such a wide variety. There's bound to be an example of what you'd like for your school.
Some people come into our lives and quickly go. Some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts. And we are never, ever the same."

I am in Momaboo position as well! Our school is starting its 3rd year, the 1st year they did not allow a parents club and last year a few of us muddled our way through it. We are also on our 3rd principal and this is her first full year as a principal. I really want to establish our group this year and make it something to build on! We just completed our bylaws but would like to see some sample procedure books if anyone has them available. HELP!
Hi Momaboo!!! I was in your shoes last year (President resigned over Labor Day). I survived and you will too! Just tread slowly. We were able to try some new things which included a new major fundraiser (Family FunFest) that profited over $5,000. That beat the old fundraiser by about $1,000. Best piece of advise: Don't take anything personally!! You are NOT going to please everyone.
