i feel the same way. I have worked all summer on stuff and now am feeling just plain tired. We have orientation on Tuesday Aug 1st, and then 1st day on Aug 3rd, so it is now a waiting game. my creativity is way low at this point. i am tired of working on papers for everything. i am tired of thinking of the bulletin board. And it isn't Aug yet!! I really am just ready for it to get here though. i hate waiting and wondering.
I hear ya! I'm in the same boat myself. I'm going on my third year as prez which has never been done at our school. All the prez's were 1 year termers. I don't know when I'm going to get things in gear, but the clock is ticking.
I'm really looking forward to having a nice dinner with my board members to just talk and get ready for our year together. I feel the weight of the school year on my shoulders (it's me...good-bad-yep, it's just me) but you know WE are THE first ones people recoginze and feel comfortable talking to or yelling at and I am just not....I just don't care yet about their issues. I will. Just not yet.
This is my seventh year in some positon on the board and yeah....it's time but I really want you to think about what I am doing. I am looking forward to just a nice dinner with the "girls" to relax before the storm!
Okay retail therapy works wonders too! I love to get a new outfit for the first meeting of the year and new supplies for me, just me!
I know exactly how you feel. Well, sort of. As a recently retired PTOer, I currently have no back-to-school issue (huge sigh of relief....). But, as president for three years in a row, I needed a kick in the rear to get started every year.
I always start out the year with a Welcome Back packet to my fellow board members and principal. It's just what I need to get the ideas flowing, get back into the PTO frame of mind and also help drag my team members back from the lazy, hazy days of summer. I include:
Welcome Letter
Meeting Calendar
Contact Info - Officers and Chairman
Voting Procedures and Meeting Quorum Definitions
Bylaws
I hope this helps! Have a great year!!!!

I just cannot seem to get motivated this year. I'm excited about being prez., and my board is great, but for some reason I can't seem to get my butt in gear.
