i ended up being involved to begin with on PTO because of a situation like this. Children who sold X number of items were given an ice cream party. It is not fair to the other children who are not able to sell, or have the family members or money to purchase the items. Any fundraiser that is school or pto based, the funds are supposed to benefit all children, not a select few. To me, it is another form of discrimination. not all can, and should not be punished because they can't. of course there are some who simply don't, but again, why discriminate against the child for something the parents don't do. i ended up bringing ice cram in for the ones who couldn't go to the party, and we had our own. The goal is to benefit ALL children in the school.
Help I'm a new president. The board has decided that we want to change a fundraiser that has been going on in our school for years. We want to keep the fundraiser but change the 'top fundraiser party to a 'we met our goal party so that all our children can celebrate not just a select few. Our school is made up of children who's parents are very well of financially all the way to parents on welfare. This fundraiser has always been run by one of our teachers and we know from the past that this will meet resistance any ideas on how to approach her?
