My son's school has had a Character Counts program for the past four years. I'm a big fan of it. My son is cynical (as most 'tweens are) about anything like this but I see the impact it has on the students.
I've had the opportunity to visit a few schools in the area and it seems that there's a direct correlation between Character Counts schools and community strength. It's a "chicken or egg" thing as I don't know which comes first but either way, the program does seem to positively affect the environment.

I had seen a great website promoting Character Education and in the program it had something about "passing the pillar" and it actually had small pillars that the kids would pass to each other when they recognized someone showing good character. Unfortunately, I did not bookmark the site and I have been looking for a long time and cannot find it now. Any help is, as always, appreciated!! [img]smile.gif[/img]
