One thing our PTA did this year that the staff absolutely loved was we hired a mobile coffee/smoothie truck to come to the school for and hour at their recess time. For one flat hourly rate, we could order as many coffees, lattes, mochas, smoothies, etc. as we wanted. All of the teachers and support staff were included and got at least one drink--some got a coffee and a smoothie.
We also contacted a frachise that just opened called "Dream Dinners" and they let the staff come afterschool one day for appetizers and to prepare one free meal to take home with them.
I would of liked to do something for everyone but the teachers enjoyed or so they say the raffle we had.. We consist of 14 people to our PTO and next year we will shout for something better.. I kinda like the idea of having a family adopt a teacher for the whole year thing.. Thanks for your input
To Okaymom2: It would have been better to split up your baskets so each teacher got something. As a PTA President who's also on staff, I can tell you that having just 5 baskets created hard feelings among the teachers whether or not they will admit it to you. Nice thought though.
Our TA week went well too.. We got 5 baskets with several different themes and each item had 100 to 300 dollars worth of donated items. Each basket had a differnt theme, we had a giveaway each day--On Tuesday we have a huge for them--Soup-salads and sandwiches and of course lots of dessert. The teachers all loved it. Also, congrats to the ladies that chaired the basket commitee they did a great job for us..
We did the coffee and donuts on the first day. With all different flavors the teachers loved it. I got so many ideas for next year already from this great group.
