Our school incorporated "TV Blackout Day" into this reading month. We had them 2 Thursday's in a row. Our principal sent home a flyer saying "this Thursday (date) is TV and Computer Games Black out day". It includes video games also. The day after if the family participated they sign the bottom of the flyer along with the date. They send back the bottom portion. The flyer also included all kinds of stuff you can do on TV black out day with your kids.
Kids who participated got a free recess as an incentive.
I am looking for some fun ideas to kick off tv turn off week. We've never done it before and would like to get some more info. If anyone has any FABULOUS ideas, please let me know!!!
