Mark Twain was a smart guy alright, he said: "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education."

(a bit off topic here, sorry!) cute (and nice to give teachers a pat on the back now and then) and maybe true but I like to think that the majority of time the kids arent in school are equally, if not more, important. bad parenting or caregiving can wipe out any progress the kids make in school.

I keep reading about how 50% (or more by some counts) of kids under 5 have TVs in their bdrm and what the ave hr of viewing is per week, I think we are lucky when teachers work is not undone after school and on weekends!

You can give a gift. What you shouldn't be doing is giving away large portions of your annual budget without proof that the money is being spent in accordance with your group's purpose. For example, you shouldn't be handing each teacher $100 cash unless you have receipts to prove it was spent on things like classroom supplies or books, etc. But a call to the IRS is always the best route because you can get the official word and ease everybody's collective mind.

you could call the 1-800 number for the IRS and ask them.

Hi I have a question. This year we did a pamper the teachers theme for our lucheon. All of our teachers and staff are women. About 50 of them. We did a basket full of lotions, showergels, sprays ect...for each staff member very inexpesive from the 1.00 store but still very pretty wrapped in colorful spring celophane. Our committee asked for money for this and then the parents donated all the food. Now we have a parent after the fact saying because we are 501c3 we can't give the teachers gifts. Does anyone know anything about this?

thanks
