Our school has its own things that it recognizes, AR program, perfect attendence, community award and then we, the PTO, introduced the Spirit Award which are those 2 students per class that most represent the spirit of learning by coming to class each day ready to learn, help their classmates and be the best Bobcat they can be. We give them a nice certificate and shoe tags we purchased that are a VERY coveted item. It was a low cost way to get our name out there to the parents and recognize some terrific children. What is SOOO neat, is that we recognize kids that might or might not be the smartest, most popular etc. That first award we had children running up, being pushed up in wheel chairs and some that I had to go to in order to present the award. It was a wonderful moment for us.

Our school used to do this until our school board set a new rule that all schools must give out the same awards, which is mainly just certificates. The PTO paid for everything. We gave medallions to the top kids in each subject. We got the gold medallions with our school colors in the ribbon. My kids have a few and they absolutely love them. Every child was so proud and it really helps the kids strive to do their best all year.
We worked with our local trophy shop and got a great deal. We are a school of 500 and with certificates, field day ribbons, reading trophies and medallions, we spent around 1500.00. It was well worth it!

Our school currenlty hs a very small awards program, and we would like to expand it. Kids that have been on honor roll get a bumper sticker. We would like to give medals to the top 2 students in each homeroom for each acedemic subject. We also want to have a most improved for each room. We also want to reward our high point earners on the AR program. Do any of your groups sponser such a progect?
