We also have a bulletin board in the front lobby. The secretaries are happy we are doing a PTO board, so they don't have to! Our parent organizaton is called PAWS (Parents Active With Southview). We have the name above, a section for upcoming events, (the current month and next month listing the dates and events with icons), the middle with our current project,(fundraising) and we found "Wanted" paper and put our labels we will be collecting. Also, we have the email address at the bottom of the bulletin board. It is bright and cheery! We found Welcome Aboard boarder. The format will be the same through out the year. We will change boarders as the year progresses. I hope this helps!
One year I did "Together We Make a Difference". I had a quilt border and made quilt peices out of construction paper and put different names on each one like, Teachers, Parents, Volunteers, Secretary, Aides, Principal, etc.... It was really cute. You could also do puzzle peices. I am a bulletin board fanatic. Do an internet search for "bulletin board ideas". You'll find tons.
See if your area has a Teacher Education store near by. They have books on how to do your bulletin boards. I have 3 and I love them all. Ideas people will go crazy over and very simple.
One problem is, once they see yours, they'll be calling you to do theirs
I too took over the bulletin board in our foyer. Last year our theme was Building Up" as we were in the process of a renovation and new addition. I found approx. 5 inch plain cutouts of tag board people/figures at the local teacher store. The figures colors reflected different races. I dressed them up in clothes that reflected our school uniforms or as close as I could come to looking like some of our teachers and priests (Catholic School). Since we had construction going on each figure had a little yellow hard hat on. You could do something similar with the little figures going around your bulletin board with your "Together" theme. Let me know if you need more info.
I have checked archived articles/posts re bulletin boards but I haven't been able to find what I've been looking for so I turn to you. Our PTO bulletin board is located in the lobby of our school and one of the first things you see. We want it to be AWESOME - eye catching and relevant. Our theme is "Together - anything is possible" I can come up w/the words I want, but I'm not the least bit artsy/craftsy and don't know what I could put on the board to decorate it. I appreciate any ideas and suggestions. Thank you.
